Call for Nominations - ABSC President and two Elected Directors
The ABSC President and two Elected Directors are to be elected at the ABSC AGM on Sunday 11th October. If you are interested in using your skills and experience to make a valuable contribution to our sport by serving on the Board, the current Directors strongly encourage you to submit a nomination for one of these positions.
As members will be aware, the structure of the ABSC has undergone significant change in the last year to conform to contemporary governance standards. The role of the Board is now broadly restricted to strategy, finance, overall governance obligations, sponsorship, membership management, international liaison and the overall image and standing of the sport. The role of ABSC Directors will now be geared towards assisting with these matters.
A new Billiards & Snooker Executive, reporting to the Board and with wide Member State representation, is to be responsible for all aspects of tournament operations, IT development and maintenance, growth in participation and diversity, coaching and referees. More information on the structure and operation of this group will be available shortly.
The ABSC values diversity and inclusion across all levels of our sport. We particularly encourage women and younger members of our community who have the appropriate skills, experience and enthusiasm to consider nominating for these positions. A Board that reflects the diversity of our community will help bring different perspectives, ideas and experiences to the future direction of our sport.
Position Descriptions for the President and Elected Director roles have been modified to reflect these significant changes, and the types of skills and experience being sought to help with the Board's functions are outlined in the Call for Nomination documents. These are attached to this post, together with a nomination form for each role.
