Guidelines for Resumption of Billiards and Snooker in COVID-19 (Updated)
The ABSC has released a second version of the COVID-19 guidelines, together with a poster that sets out the practical steps required for safe play, and which can be put up in billiard rooms.
The changes to the guidelines from version 1 are highlighted in red and are:
Modified advice on measures to take with cushions (vacuum with HEPA filtered vacuum cleaner – common on most modern machines) and cushion rails (no need to disinfect, just clean with detergent and damp cloth, then dry, and this should be appropriate in conjunction with regular hand sanitisation).
Guidance on the need to promote airflow in billiard rooms.
Further advice will be posted as conditions change.
Please email the ABSC Secretary General, Simon Fortune, with any questions at secretary@absc.com.au.

The ABSC has today released its Guidelines for Resumption of Billiards and Snooker During the COVID19 Pandemic.
These guidelines have been produced to assist State/Territory affiliates of the ABSC and billiard room operators with their planning for gradual resumption of our sport, and to provide advice on practical steps that players and venue operators should take to minimise the risks associated with play. They align with current recommendations from Federal and State public health authorities and SafeWork Australia, and with the AIS Framework For Re-booting Sport in a COVID-19 Environment. The ABSC will keep these guidelines under constant review, and issue updates as circumstances and recommendations change.
ABSC affiliates are encouraged to distribute these guidelines to their members as they see fit, and to use the contents to assist with their own planning and documentation.
Notwithstanding these guidelines, it is important to stress that ABSC affiliates and all billiard room operators have a primary obligation to remain aware of, and comply with, the requirements of their own government. Every State and Territory government has a different set of restrictions in place at present, designed to cater for the pandemic situation in their own environment, and those requirements will naturally take precedence over anything in these ABSC guidelines.
If you have any comments or suggestions on the attached guidelines – particularly if they are inconsistent with any government requirements - please email the ABSC Secretary General, Simon Fortune at simon.fortune@absc.com.au
