2026 RACV Australian National Snooker Championship Change to entry conditions
2026 RACV Australian National Snooker Championship Change to entry conditions
The ABSC has decided to change the entry criteria for the 2026 RACV National Snooker Championships to allow Australian Permanent Residents, as well as Australian Citizens to enter. This will apply to all future Australian Championships (Snooker, Billiards, Women’s, Masters and Juniors).
However, as is currently the case, only Australian Citizens will be eligible to represent Australia at International events.
This change recognises the large number Permanent Residents active in our playing community but who, for a number of reasons, choose not to take out Australian citizenship.
The amended Entry Pack for the National Snooker has been loaded to www.absc.com.au/online-entries and the ABSC calendar, however the relevant changes are:
Entry Conditions
Entrants must be a financial member of a Member State of the Australian Billiards and Snooker Council (ABSC), and in good standing.
Entrants must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident and not have represented another country in international competition for a minimum of 3 years.
Only Australian citizens holding an Australian passport are eligible to represent Australia in international competition.
International Selection
The winner of the Australian National Snooker Championship will be considered for selection to represent Australia at the 2026 IBSF Championship, provided they are an Australian citizen.
If selected, the winner will receive the retention amount of $1,550 once they have played their first match at the 2026 IBSF Championship.
If the winner is ineligible for selection, or is selected but decides not to attend the 2026 IBSF Championship, the ABSC may select an alternative player to represent Australia and this player will receive the retention amount.
If no player is available to attend the 2026 IBSF Championship the retention amount will used to fund Australian representation at alternative events.
The ABSC may, at its discretion, provide additional funds to any player selected to represent Australia at International events.
