Vinnie Calabrese Wins Bob Marshall Medal

Congratulations to Vinnie Calabrese who was awarded the prestigious Bob Marshall Medal this evening at the Commercial Club in Albury.

The Bob Marshall Medal recognises the best Australian snooker and billiards player for the year. It is awarded by the ABSC to the player who has performed best in ABSC and IBSF events throughout the calendar year.

The Medal has been awarded intermittently since Marshall’s death in 2004 and is voted on by ABSC Board members.

Bob Marshall was Australia’s greatest amateur billiards player who:

  • Won the World amateur billiards title four times between the 1930’s and 1960’s, and was runner-up three times.

  • Won the Australian National Billiards title 21 times, at least once in each of six consecutive decades, the last being in 1986 at the age of 75.

  • Won the Australian Snooker Championship in 1956

  • High break of 1,056 at billiards and 139 snooker.

  • Was WA Liberal politician and small business owner.
