Tasmanian Teenager Lilly Meldrum Claims Victory at the 2023 Australian Women's Snooker Championship which was held at the Commercial Club in Albury from the 14th - 16th July 2023.
In a stunning display of skill and determination, fifteen-year-old Lilly Meldrum from Tasmania has emerged as the 2023 Australian Women's Snooker Champion. The national tournament, held in Albury NSW, showcased the extraordinary growing talent of women snooker players from across the country, culminating in an exhilarating final between Lilly Meldrum and Jessica Woods from Queensland.
Lilly Meldrum's exceptional performance throughout the championship drew the attention of spectators and fellow competitors alike. Despite her young age, Lilly displayed maturity and poise beyond her years as she navigated through challenging matches, proving herself a formidable contender. Congratulations also to Carlie Tait (NSW) and Julie Watson (VIC) for making the semi finals. Unfortunately both players lost their matches 4-1 to the eventual finalists.

The Australian National Women’s Billiards Championship was hosted alongside the Snooker on the 13th July at the same venue. Congratulations to Julie Watson from Victoria who defeated Lilly Meldrum in the final 184-33. Julie proved a little strong in this format for Lilly and stopped the 15 year old from securing both the Billiards and Snooker titles. Billiards for Women is starting to grow with more events being incorporated alongside Snooker titles and other National events.
