ABSC Social Media Guide and Player Delegate Contacts
Players’ and Women’s Delegates – contact details
The role of the ABSC Players’ Delegates (Don Stewart and Bill Horner) and Women’s Delegate (Theresa Whitten) is to seek feedback - both positive and negative - from players about issues related to tournament play or concerns and suggestions about the overall conduct of our sport.
The Delegates can then bring these to the attention of the ABSC Board which can decide on the best course of action.
To help streamline the communication process the Delegates have set up a common email address – playerdelegates@absc.com.au . Players are encouraged to use this address to raise concerns and suggestions or provide feedback on things they think have gone well.
Of course, if you wish to contact any of the Delegates individually you can do so at: don.stewart@absc.com.au, bill.horner@absc.com.au or theresa.whitten@absc.com.au.
Membership is a Must
The ABSC would like to remind players that in order to play in tournaments sanctioned by either the ABSC or a State Association they must:
be a financial member of their State Association,
be in good standing, and
agree to abide by all tournament conditions and the policies of the State Association and the ABSC.
If you are unsure of your membership status please check with the administrators of your State body. Contact details can be found at www.absc.com.au/links .
Use of Social Media
The ABSC encourages Members to use Social Media to communicate with each other and the ABSC about issues related to our sport. However, we all have obligations to do so respectfully and legally when our sport and individual participants are being discussed, in both public and private forums.
The ABSC Code of Conduct and Social Media Policy set out these obligations in detail, but to help Members understand them the ABSC has developed some easy-to-read Social Media Guidelines (adapted from the WPBSA).
The ABSC has an obligation to ensure that its members are not exposed to abuse, ridicule or defamation from individuals in our sport community, and must take breaches of the required standards seriously.
There have been many posts recently which have fallen short of acceptable standards, so Members are encouraged to read these Guidelines carefully, and ensure that their future Social Media use is appropriate.
