ABSC President – Expressions of Interest
Frank Dewens will retire as President of the ABSC in accordance with the constitution at the 2023 Annual General Meeting on Saturday 14th October. Frank has undertaken the role with great energy, dedication and distinction for the past 10 years, and his leadership will be sadly missed by cue sports both nationally and internationally.
The ABSC Board is now seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals who would like to be considered for the President role, for an initial term of 3 years. This would suit someone with a passion for the games, a willingness to represent the sport national and internationally, sufficient time to make an active contribution and some experience managing a small organisation, drawing on the skills of other Board members. A Position Description for the role can be accessed below. Expressions of interest should be lodged by Tuesday 26 September, and directed to the Secretary-general Simon Fortune (secretary@absc.com.au) in the first instance.
The new President will be ratified (or elected if there are multiple candidates) by the Member States of the ABSC at the 2023 AGM, and will take office at the conclusion of that meeting.
Frank would be delighted to mentor the incoming President in an unofficial capacity, and any questions about the role can be directed to him (president@absc.com.au), the Vice-president Alex Render (rendersnooker@gmail.com) or Simon Fortune.
Update on Nominations for ABSC President
The nomination period for the role of ABSC President has now closed. The only nomination for the role was received from the current Vice-president Alex Render, and a statement outlining his ambitions for the role and the sport is attached. If the nomination is ratified by Member States at the 2023 ABSC AGM, Alex will assume the office of ABSC President at that time, for an initial term of three years.
A reminder that the AGM start has been pushed back to 10.00 am AEDT on Saturday 14 October, and that interested members will be able to join via Zoom by registering with the Secretary General at secretary@absc.com.au.
