Robertson Charges Through World Champ Qualifying
17 Feb 2004

Neil Robertson missed out on a 147 maximum but secured his place in round three of Embassy World Championship qualifying.

The talented Australian youngster hammered Joe Delaney 10-2 and will meet Rod Lawler next, with a trip to the Crucible just three wins away.

Cambridge-based Robertson cruised into a 6-1 lead with runs of 62, 68 and 100. In frame eight he was on for a maximum, but after potting the 15th black he was left snookered on the yellow and the break finished at 120.

The 21-year-old, who won the qualifying competition for the Masters, added 52, 125 and 67 in wrapping up the match.

Fellow Australians Steve Mifsud and Johl Younger were knocked out of the qualifying, Steve losing 10-5 to Adrian Gunnell and Johl going down 10-3 to Scott MacKenzie.
