IBSF Agrees Three-Year Deal With Strachan
The IBSF has enjoyed a successful relationship with Strachan spanning ten years and in that time the number of IBSF member countries has grown from 41 to 65. Many international snooker tournaments have been organised, most recently the World Championships in China which included its first IBSF event for ladies. "In 2004 we will be introducing our first event for seniors to be played at the same time as the men's and ladies' championships," said IBSF president Anthony Hull. "With these and many other high-profile tournaments in the IBSF calendar, we are pleased to have each supported by Strachan, whose snooker and billiard cloth provides a playing surface of the highest standard," he added. Duncan Kettell, Strachan's director of marketing, has been a long-time fan of IBSF's work around the globe. "Though the Embassy World Snooker Championships have raised the profile of the sport from the professional point of view, the IBSF and its many member countries can claim credit for developing snooker at grass root level around the world. "Snooker now has an international appeal that's equal to other cue sports and, in working closely with the Federation, we have seen it grow in status over the years and are very pleased to be part of its ongoing success," added Mr Kettell.
